#Emir grape variety is best suited to continental climates, likes high altitudes (900-1200m) and poor sandy or volcanic soils. It shows late ripening in this type of environment. #Emir is also productive but very sensitive to botrytis bunch rot.
It is one of the most important grape varieties grown mainly in Nevşehir and Niğde in Cappadocia. There were only 92 ha planted in 2010.1
#Emir varietal wines are typically light in color, with a greenish cast, delicate , fresh light to medium bodied, sometimes mineral scanted. Emir variety is used in sparkling and still wine making. It does not match with oak and generally should be consumed in few years. MLF (malo lactic fermentation) does not suit.
I am going to taste different wines from different wineries and share with you in next weeks.
