#Foça is a small town close to #Izmir, from Turkey’s Aegean cost. Foça Karası means “Black of Foça”.

Foça Karası is mid ripening, good general disease resistance. Vines grown in hot conditions tend to produce more aromatic wines. 1
Foça Karası grown in Aydın has conic cluster form and medium cluster weight. Berry color is red-black. It has medium berry weight, yield is medium and mid-ripening variety (Photo 1).2
Foça Karası grown in Çanakkale province and Bayramiç district has conic cluster form and medium cluster weight. Berry form short elliptic and color is black. It has medium berry weight and the yield is little and it is mid ripening (Photo 2) 2 Also this variety has 1 or 3 seeds in the berry. 3

Foça Karası grown in Izmir, Mordoğan has cylindrical cluster form, small cluster weight. Berry color is light red or pinky and berry weight is medium. The yield is medium and it is mid ripening variety. (Photo 3) 2
Wines made from #FoçaKarası is medium to light body and fruity fresh wine. This variety is not well known in Turkey nowadays . Wine producers pay attention about this variety recently. There have been recent attempts to replant and re-evaluate this variety with promising results.
